Mastiff Dogs - Loyal Friends

This huge breed of dogs may be up to 3 feet tall, its weight may reach over 200 pounds.

This courageous dog has been famed since the 12th century BC having a reputation of a good warrior. The huge and brave dogs have been successfully used in the war fighting and animal hunting.

In addition to the above-mentioned traits Mastiff dogs are distinguished by their great loyalty. In 1415   this fierce guard and fighting dog saved the life to his owner, Sir Piers Legh, who was wounded during the battle. The dog was guarding and protecting his master since some soldiers have come to Sir Piers Legh’s rescue.

Nowadays this impressive square –faced breed is well known by its gentle nature, patience and confidence. This intelligent and watchful dog is good with children; defence of its family and territory is in its nature. Thus it is one of the best guard dogs. Mastiff dogs love to please and needs much attention and exercises.

Being known by their courage, grandeur and dignity these dogs are very affectionate ones. By the way, this breed excellently reacts to gentle and patient training. However sometimes it may be heavy to learn him.

To succeed in its training the owner should start exercising with its Mastiff puppy from the very entry into its new family. Due to its massive size the breed is commonly known as a house dog. It is good with any size home and needs its own room or playground. This condition is extremely important for the dog’s life and health, good behavior and calm nature.

Massif dog can live about nine - eleven years but only if you care for this breed properly. Right diet, plenty of exercises is one of the necessary conditions for this dog.
